EOS M50 What's Included
EOS M50 Single Kit is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jack of all trades: stop using your phone camera This is my first camera. I went to the camera shop and had a chance to play with a few different models from different manufacturers. Coming from an iPhone as opposed to a DSLR, the thing that matters to me is how easy it is to use, so the first thing I look for is a touchscreen and to interact with the camera settings through the touchscreen. The interface works as easily as a smartphone and negates the need for confusing buttons and dials. My friend has a 60D and I noticed the articulating screen. The m50 also has an articulating screen allowing selfies and shots from low and high angles in addition to vlogging. the combination of a fully functional touch screen interface and full articulation is not present on competitor cameras or even other canon mirrorless and it's a huge deal. The electronic viewfinder is fantastic and the quality and response time does not disappoint. If you are looking to upgrade from a smartphone, you probably want to get higher image quality and low light performance. Yes definitely the image quality is many times better than a smartphone, but at first you may be disappointed with the low light performance. This is because smartphones use their extremely powerful processors to perform a lot of image optimisation including noise reduction and HDR which takes multiple photos and combines them to create a clearer image. This software optimisation usually results in an image that looks good until you pinch to zoom and it looks like a complete mess. The M50 does have some great features which you will need to find and turn on or you may be disappointed in it's low light performance. Once you understand how cameras work, you can play with shutter speeds, iso, aperture, faster lenses and raw files you can get results that blow away any smartphone. standard images have great natural colour straight from the camera and the wifi feature allows automatic transfer to your smartphone. This is really great and allows me to give a quick edit before uploading them to social media or give them to friends instantly. Lenses are quite affordable compared to other systems and have great quality feel to them. Unfortunately there are only a couple of lenses which are good for low light. this is the 22mm f2.0 and the 32mm f1.4. With the adapter you can use all the canon DSLR lenses including the affordable 50mm f1.8 which is excellent. There is no in camera stabilisation (except digital) which is very disappointing. The stabilisation in some lenses is excellent however so if you're using a stabilised lens you're fine. The plastic body doesn't look or feel great, but the grip is nicely textured and all the buttons and switches work nicely with a positive high quality feel. The 1080p video was fantastic and I was really impressed with the autofocus but I don't understand why the m50 can't use all it's features in 4k. It feels like they are deliberately limiting this camera's features so that they can sell more expensive models but forgetting that most smartphones can film 4k. the m50's autofocus in 4k is terrible and I don't recommend this camera if you want to film in 4k. BUT it's awesome in 1080p, much better than a smartphone. AND you can add an external mic for some awesome quality audio, although without a mic it was still very good! I'm sure I can go on, but yeah this camera does everything well and ticks all the boxes even if it's not the best at any one thing. it's small and easy to use which will make you want to use the camera more and you will definitely appreciate the improved quality over your smartphone. I love using this camera!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon m50 Review The first thing I thought when I picked up the m50 was "Wow, this was made with pro's in mind". The reason I say this is because of the snug way the small mirrorless snuggles into your hand with a grip much like that of a DSLR, as well as the view finder. It sounds cliche but as a DSLR shooter, a lack of grip on other brick like bodies, and slow, un-ergonomic view finders are a massive deal breaker for me. The spec's speak for themselves, so I won't go into it too much, but the dynamic range on CR3 files is a huge advantage for travellers and point & shooters. The Operating system is also flawless and incredibly quick, faster I dare say than 5d4. As per usual Canon's touch screen and AF is also flawless. I only have two quarrel's with this camera is that it has a slightly plastic feel to it. For a lot of cameras that are running around food or travel shoots (which is what a camera with this spec is perfect for) unfortunately getting knocked, damaged and things spilt on is part of the package, and with a very plastic based body and a lack of much weather proofing, it's hard to feel confident with it in extreme circumstances. The second is the availability of lenses, come on Canon, take my Money! Pump out some more lenses. My 22mm prime needs a friend. Otherwise, Awesome camera, I highly recommend it to Photographers & Amateurs alike for your travels, or any online food bloggers (photos streamed straight to your iPhone is a big plus).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use screen and connection to smart phone Purchased camera in April 2018. Have taken almost 2,800 photos. Night shots of the stars, landscapes, a birthday party. Has performed excellent with very little touching up required afterwards. Has been a life saver for Facebook and the ease of use through both the touch screen and the app via smart phone.
